Christian Kappe is internationally active as a musician, plays trumpet and flugelhorn in the formations of, among others, Trilok Gurtu (concerts in Brazil, France, Romania, the Baltic States, Norway, etc.) and in the ensembles of Eda Zari with Rhani Krija, with Barbara Dennerlein and with Jasper van't Hof. He studied in the USA and the Netherlands, toured with the BuJazzO/ Peter Herbolzheimer and his own groups in Europe, North and South America and Africa. Kappe is a winner of numerous Int. Music competitions and taught jazz trumpet, ensembles and jazz history at the Musikhochschule Leipzig for several years. Kappe has been teaching at the Musikhochschule Münster since 2009 and also at the Institute for Music Education of the WWU in Münster since 2018. From 2008 to summer 2022 he conducted the children's and youth jazz orchestra UniJAZZity Westfalen (WDR Jazz Prize winner). Since autumn 2022, Christian Kappe has been teaching jazz trumpet, conducting/playing ensembles at the University of Oldenburg and leading the university's big band.
Kappe made TV and radio productions for almost all national programs as well as abroad and can be heard on over 70 CDs. Current releases: Christian Kappe & Cru Sauvage with Burkhard Jasper & Kai Brückner - "Volume 1" // "The Sea" in a duo with Marc Brenken // Cartouche with the trio by Philipp van Endert, each to be heard via download / streaming.
