Christian Kappe teaches at the University of Oldenburg, at the Music Academy and the Institute for Music Education at the University of Münster and at the School of Music in the district of Warendorf.
From the summer of 2000 to the summer of 2005, Christian Kappe also taught at the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music and Theater in Leipzig. The content of the lessons there included the main subject jazz trumpet, ensemble, Big Band rehearsals as well as lectures and seminars in the field of improvisation and jazz music history.
(Former) students of Christian Kappe play / played in various LaJazzO's and the Federal Jazz Orchestra as well as in the big bands of the WDR, HR and NDR. Among other things, they are prizewinners in the "Jugend jazzt" and "Jugend Musiziert" competitions and they are students or graduates of German and international music schools.
In addition to the current subjects (trumpet, improvisation, ensemble, big band, conducting ensembles, cultural history of jazz), there are workshops every year in Berlin, Nottbeck, Gladbeck, Beckum and alternately in Ibbenbüren as well as in Dallas and Los Angeles, USA take place. Other workshops have taken place in Cloppenburg, Hildesheim, Montabaur, Hattingen, Hanover, on Fehmarn, at Marlborough College in England and as part of tours to Colombia and South Africa.
Possible languages of instruction besides German are English and Dutch.
